Fasting required for 6 to 8 hours. The stomach must be completely empty of food and liquids.

Stop blood thinners 3 to 5 days prior to the test to prevent bleeding during biopsy.

Bring all CT scans, MRI files, previous endoscopy reports, and blood test summaries.

Due to sedation, an adult companion is required to assist you home.

Patient Sedated
You are given IV sedation to ensure you sleep comfortably and painlessly during the test.
EUS Scope Insertion
The specialized EUS scope is inserted through the mouth. The ultrasound transducer at the tip transmits high-definition live images of neighboring organs.
Fine-Needle Sampling
If a tumor or lymph node is found, a microscopic needle is passed under real-time ultrasound guidance to collect cells (FNA/FNB).
Completion
The scope is withdrawn. The gathered tissue is sent to the pathology laboratory for cell analysis.

What to Expect
You will wake up smoothly in the recovery bay. A slight sore throat or bloating due to air inflation is normal and temporary.

Discharged on the same day after 2 hours of observation.
Diet Guidelines
You can drink clear liquids once your swallowing reflex is fully back (around 1 hour). Eat a soft diet for the rest of the day.
Physical Activity
Rest at home. Do not perform strenuous activities or drive on the day of the procedure.
