Positioning
You lie on your back on the examination table with your right arm raised above your head to expose the right side of your abdomen.
Probe Placement
Dr. Yadav places the FibroScan probe (similar to an ultrasound probe) on the skin over the liver area. A small amount of gel is applied.
Vibration Measurement
The probe sends a mild vibration pulse into the liver. The speed at which the wave travels through the liver is measured — a stiffer liver (more fibrosis) transmits vibrations faster.
CAP Score
Simultaneously, the device measures the Controlled Attenuation Parameter (CAP) — a score reflecting the amount of fat in the liver. Both readings are displayed immediately on screen.
