ग्लू इंजेक्शन (Variceal Glue Injection) लिवर सिरोसिस के मरीजों के पेट के अंदर सूजी और फटी हुई नसों (gastric varices) से हो रहे गंभीर रक्तस्राव (bleeding) को रोकने का एक जीवन रक्षक इलाज है। लिवर खराब होने पर पेट की नसें बहुत फूल जाती हैं और कभी भी फटकर जानलेवा ब्लीडिंग शुरू हो सकती है। इस प्रक्रिया में दूरबीन के जरिए सीधे उस फूली हुई नस के अंदर एक विशेष मेडिकल ग्लू (cyanoacrylate) इंजेक्ट किया जाता है, जो खून के संपर्क में आते ही पत्थर की तरह जम जाता है और ब्लीडिंग को तुरंत रोक देता है।

Stabilize & Sedate
The patient is stabilized with IV fluids and blood. Deep sedation or general anesthesia is administered.
Identify Gastric Varices
The endoscope is introduced into the stomach. The large, blue, snake-like swollen veins (varices) are identified.
Glue injection
A specialized needle is passed. Medical glue mixed with lipiodol is injected directly into the bleeding varix. The needle is flushed and quickly withdrawn to prevent sticking.
Verify Hardening
The varix is gently probed to confirm it has hardened (thrombosed) completely like a stone. The scope is withdrawn.
